Things to Do at 1st Thursday

Join Chroma Lab at the Boston Handmade Artisan Fair, August 6th, at Jamaica Plain's last 1st Thursday of the summer! If you haven't made it to JP for this event yet, make sure you come out tomorrow from 5-8pm. We'll be at 20 South St in front of Curtis Hall with our friends from Boston Handmade (click here for a map).

We're bringing some newly restored and painted furniture for you to check out, including our Red Hot Table, below. It's shiny, people...it's shiny. You may just be mesmerized by your own reflection, and we won't hold it against you.

Sssszzz! <--Red Hot noise

After you visit us at the Artisan Market, there are lots of other places to check out and things to eat along South and Centre Streets, and all the businesses stay open late on 1st Thursdays. We highly recommend you venture into Salmagundi, where you'll find dapper and sophisticated things for both ladies and gents to wear and carry. The owners are really friendly and always happy to help you find the perfect fit in a hat or glove. They got Tony into a very dashing wool cap last winter.

We know what you really need after shopping for handmade goods and fine accessories is a fine meal. There's plenty of good food to be had in Jamaica Plain--the hard part is making the commitment for the evening. Bukhara Restaurant is Chroma Lab's Indian place of choice in JP. We like the Vegetable Korma and the Pashawary naan (Coconut! Potatoes! Raisins! Trust us).

Bukhara Restaurant - 701 Centre St.

City Feed and Supply is another JP favorite because it specializes in local foods from local suppliers. The Fresh Mozzarella sandwich is good. REAL good. You can pick up groceries and potted herbs here, too.

City Feed and Supply - 672 Centre St.

Ten Tables is a small and popular place that is consistently named one of Boston's best restuarants. There really are only ten tables, so the atmosphere is cosy and you'll need to call ahead for reservations (617.524.8810).

Ten Tables - 597 Centre St.

For dessert (and you will need dessert), no visit to JP is complete without getting ice cream at JP Licks Homemade Ice Cream. Everything is made fresh in the store, and some of the August flavors sound particularly delicious--Peanut Butter Oreo and Fresh Peach.

When you're out and about on Thursday, stop by and say hi! We love talking with you about what we do and getting to know you better.
